Where Culture Comes Alive and Community Leads the Way

Bukalanga Gathering United Kingdom (BGUK) is a non-political, cultural and philanthropic charity organisation founded in 2016 to encourage friendly and harmonious relations between the Bukalanga community and other nationalities in the United Kingdom.

BGUK strives to organize Bakalanga and stakeholders in Great Britain with five primary aims and objectives enshrined in the founding documents to:

  • Create, organize and provide spaces and platforms for discussions. live presentations of BaKalanga traditions, values, norms, and other cultural arts practices.
  • Organize an annual event that showcases TjiKalanga and BaKalanga heritage varying from but not limited to songs, dances, stories, myths, legends, food, and dress, to even issues addressing contemporary BaKalanga culture in the UK.
  • Organize small events throughout the year ranging from talks on themes and issues to even responding to issues as they arise within Bukalanga community as approved by the management committee.
  • Hold fundraising events to raise money for the organization and its programmes.

What We Do

Empowering Through Culture,
Giving Back With Purpose

At BuKalanga Gathering, our mission goes beyond cultural celebration—we create meaningful impact through guest speakers, business showcases, faith-based expressions, traditional arts, and culinary experiences. Most importantly, we focus on giving back to our communities in Zimbabwe, supporting vital initiatives such as building schools, hospitals, and local enterprises, especially in the Bulilima and Mangwe Districts.

Mission And Vision

Rooted in Heritage, United for Progress

BuKalanga Gathering UK is a unifying movement that celebrates our heritage, strengthens identity, and empowers communities in Zimbabwe through culture, business, and shared vision.

Our Mission

The Gathering aims to expand its sphere of influence to other Kalanga related Districts like Tsholotsholo and Matobo Districts in terms of infrastructure developments and other ‘giving back to the community’ initiatives.

As the Kalanga saying goes, “Bukamu igaswa gohhadzisiwa nemadlo!”, the event highlights traditional BuKalanga dishes like: mxhanxa, tjimoni, mahonja, manyadzigwa, and mahwe.

Our Vision

Our vision is: To promote and advocate with a unified voice to the wider community about the vibrant and diverse arts and culture of Bakalanga and the thriving Tjikalanga language.
